Google Workspace Administrator can customise file sync and sharing permissions and restrict offline access. Users can be given different permission levels – from view to comment to edit the expiration date of shared files and prevent actions such as printing, downloading or copying.
Finance department employees can share data as spreadsheets with expiration dates and only give comment access to prevent others from changing the numbers.
Google Workspace Administrator can prevent the finance department in document sharing online / document sharing from sharing confidential information externally except with trusted partners by whitelisting a domain.
The Google Workspace Administrator can also choose that everyone must be specified as members of a Shared Drive in order to access data, that way they have a Google Workspace login or Google
Workspace account.
External accounts can also be specified as members, so you are not forced to have a Google Workspace email specified as a member The marketing team can share customer-oriented assets with view-only access and can set expiration dates to suit the availability of marketing.
Reports and notifications
File Audit Reporting and Alerts: You can create custom alerts and audit key file related statuses like shared, downloaded, deleted or viewed.
If only three people have accessed the file that contains information about everyone employees' salary conditions, and so the file is shared with a fourth employee, you can receive an immediate email alert.
Even if you trust your employees, a user can walk away from their computer, allowing others to download or share the information to misuse it.

Data control: Advanced Data Loss Prevention (DLP) for Gmail and Drive protects data and prevents data leaks with predefined content detectors, user-defined rules and optical character recognition.
If an employee shares a credit card number via email or a scanned image of a credit card or health insurance card, DLP's content detectors and company-defined rules prevent the user from sending the email.
